The glorious Parampara of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, illuminated by 23 illustrious spiritual leaders, is currently led by its 24th Acharya, P.P. Shreemad Vidyadheesh Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. Although they have occupied the Gurupeetha for a relatively short period, their dynamic leadership and profound devotion have already ushered in a new era of spiritual resurgence.
Birth and Early Life
Born as Shri Uday Bhat Sharma on the auspicious day of Shalivahana Shaka 1917, Yuva Samvatsara Ashvija Krishna Saptami (October 16, 1995) in Kasarkod, Honavar, they hail from a family deeply rooted in spiritual service. Their father, Vedmoorthy Laxminarayan Bhat, and mother, Padmavati Bhat, nurtured their upbringing in a tradition of devotion. From a young age, Shri Uday Bhat Sharma exhibited a contemplative nature, balancing modern academic pursuits in Mechanical Engineering at Maratha Mandal Engineering College, Belgaum, with a steadfast commitment to helping their father in priestly duties.
Entry to the Math and Education
The divine call to serve the lineage came in 2014. On the Punyatithi of the 18th Peethadipati, P.P. Shreemad Poornaprajna Teerth Swamiji, they arrived at Partagali Math to begin their spiritual transformation. Under the direct teachings of P.P. Shreemad Vidyadhiraja Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji, they underwent rigorous training in Sanskrit, Vyakarana, Tarka, and the Sarvamula granthas of Shriman Madhvacharya. Their dedication involved intensive study sessions daily, allowing them to master complex Shastras in a remarkably short span.
Sannyasa Deeksha and Peetharohana
On February 9, 2017 (Magha Trayodashi), at the sacred Partagali Math, they were initiated into the Sannyasa Ashrama and bestowed with the name P.P. Shreemad Vidyadheesh Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. Following the mahanirvana of their Guru, the Peetharohana was performed on July 30, 2021 (Ashada Krishna Saptami, Plav Samvatsar, Shaka 1943, Friday), formally initiating them as the 24th Peethadipati.
A Visionary Leadership
In just five years, P.P. Swamiji has achieved milestones that have resonated across the globe. They spearheaded the monumental 'Rama Nama Japa Taraka Mantra' initiative, leading the community to complete 550 crore chants. Demonstrating absolute devotion to Lord Shri Rama, they inaugurated a 77-foot bronze statue of Kodanda Rama, the tallest in the world. Furthermore, they have expanded the Math’s reach by establishing new Shakha Maths in Tirupati and Ayodhya, while leveraging social media to communicate ancient Vedic wisdom to the younger generation.
