In memory of the 23rd pontiff — the institutional channel through which the Math reaches the hungry, the sick, the student, and the suffering.
The Vidyadhiraj Charitable Trust is the formal philanthropic arm of the Math, named after Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth — the 23rd pontiff of the lineage, whose reign was marked by extraordinary social activism during a time of plague, famine, and educational neglect.
For decades, the Trust has carried forward his vision: that a temple is incomplete if it serves only the soul. The Trust serves the body, the mind, and the dignity of every devotee who turns to the Math in need — irrespective of caste, creed or means.
Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth was not a pontiff who remained behind the sanctum walls. During his tenure he walked through plague-stricken villages, organised relief during the great famines, and personally oversaw the founding of free schools in remote tribal areas.
When the present Trust was formally constituted in his memory, the elders chose his name not as a tribute, but as a charge — a daily reminder that this Trust must continue to walk where the Pontiff once walked.
The Trust focuses its resources on four enduring areas of human need — areas where small interventions, applied consistently, can change the arc of a life.
The Trust is administered by a board of senior devotees including chartered accountants, doctors and educationists. Every appeal received is verified, every grant approved by committee, and every rupee accounted for in audited annual reports.
This is not philanthropy by guesswork. It is philanthropy by discipline — the same discipline the Math brings to its temple rituals, applied now to its social work.

Glimpses from the field
दानं ददाति निःस्वार्थं प्रीयते परमेश्वरः ॥
"The Supreme Lord is pleased by the gift that is given without expectation of return. To wipe a tear is to serve the Lord; to feed the hungry is to feed Him."
— Ancient Smriti Tradition
The Trust exists only because of devoted donors. Your contribution — large or small — becomes a scholarship, a surgery, a meal, a roof. All donations are 80G tax-exempt and accounted for transparently.
