KushavatiThe Sacred River that Cradles the Math

Timeless waters carrying centuries of faith, welcoming the quiet rituals of daily devotion.

A River That Belongs to the Sanctum

The Kushavati River is a celestial creation, formed by Lord Brahma from a drop of kushodaka to eternally serve Lord Shri Ram. It blesses the Partagali Math by curving toward the North and Northeast—a highly auspicious Vastu formation known as Ishanya Plava that designates the region as Devabhoomi.

I · The Sacred River

The Mahanadi of the Konkan

Born in the high Western Ghats, the Kushavati River winds beautifully through the lush hills of Canacona on its journey toward the Arabian Sea, pausing to flow serenely past the very walls of the Partagali Math. Far more than a mere geographical waterway, this river is a celestial creation; This deep, primordial bond between the waters and the divine culminated in a modern miracle on October 2, 2009.

Following heavy rains, the river rose drastically by 20 to 32 feet and flowed directly into the Garbhagudi (sanctum sanctorum) to touch the feet of Lord Shri Ram—a momentous event witnessed by P.P. Shreemad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji, marking the ultimate fulfillment of the river's sacred destiny..
