The Partagali Kendra Math was established in 1656 A.D. by the sixth Guru of the lineage, P.P. Shreemad Ramchandra Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji. The foundation is deeply rooted in a divine journey. According to divine instructions, P.P. Swamiji found four stone idols near the back of the Gokarn Math. The journey  that began when P.P. Swamiji travelled through Karwar, Mashe, and Poinginim. Upon reaching the Ashrama of Paingi Rhushi, they observed that three sacred idols (Shree Rama, Laxman and Seeta) they were carrying became unusually heavy, signifying a divine wish for a permanent seat. The fourth idol of Maruti did not become ‘heavy’.

Guided by a mystical instruction in their dreams, P.P. Swamiji followed a Kamadhenu (divine cow) the following morning. The Kamadhenu led the Swamiji and their parivar through rivers and steep ghats, eventually stopping and milking at the banks of the Ishanyaplava Kushavati river. It was at this scenic and sanctified spot that P.P. Swamiji installed the stone statues of Shree Rama, Seeta, and Laxman, giving birth to what is now known as Partagali. The Math serves as the spiritual heart of the community and houses the holy Vrundavanas of eight illustrious Swamijis, including the 13th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd Gurus. The premises are also home to the ancient and sacred Vatavruksha (Banyan tree), which has been a silent witness to centuries of penance and Vedic tradition.
