P.P Shreemad Narayana Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji holds a place of profound reverence as the founding spiritual force behind the illustrious lineage of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. Their life marks the divine beginning of an unbroken Guru Parampara that has guided the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community for centuries.

The Divine Initiation
P.P. Shreemad Ramchandra Teerth Swamiji, the 10th Peethadhipati of Palimaru Math, were on a Teertha Yatra to Badari Kshetra. During this journey, they were sick and felt a divine necessity to initiate a disciple into Sanyasa to ensure the continuity of Mantras and Mudras. Guided by a dream where Lord Sri Rama appeared, they chose young Madhava, a vatu from Gauda Saraswat Brahmin, as their successor. In 1475 A.D., at Badrikashram, they initiated them into Sanyasa, naming them Shreemad Narayana Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji and conferring all spiritual rights upon them. Subsequently, Shreemad Ramchandra Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji initiated Shreemad Vidyanidhi Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji for the Palimaru Math, while blessing Shreemad Narayana Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji to lead the Gauda Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava community.

Establishment of the Varanasi Math
Following their initiation, P.P. Swamiji travelled extensively and arrived at the sacred city of Varanasi .While staying at Panchganga Ghat in Varanasi, an incident involving a Princess's lost diamond bangles occurred. Despite being wrongly searched by the King's attendants while in meditation, Sri Swamiji remained detached, stating they had no interest in worldly wealth. When the bangles were later found, the King of Kashi sought forgiveness for the behavior of his daughter and servants. At P.P. Swamiji's request, the King assisted in building a Math facing the Shreemad Bindu Madhav temple on the banks of the Ishyanyaplava Ganga. This became the first Math for the community, where the Pancha-dhatumaya idol of Shreemad Laxmi Narayan was installed.
Foundation of the Vadermath at Bhatkal
After establishing the Varanasi Math, P.P. Swamiji returned south and, with the blessings of their Guru, undertook the mission of organizing and uplifting the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community. Sri Swamiji arrived at Bhatkal and established the “Vader” math (the original Math), installing the Vithal Shila Vigraha. This historic foundation occurred 75 years before the Portuguese persecutions in Goa began in 1540 A.D. This Math serves as the emblem of Saraswat identity, providing a rallying point for unification for over 548 years through an unbroken lineage of 24 Swamijis.

Mahanirvana
P.P. Shreemad Narayana Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji attained Haripada on Chaitra Amavasya, Shrisaka 1439. Their Vrindavana is located near the Gopi river in Bhatkal.
