History of Swamiji
  • Early Life and Education

P.P. Shreemad Padmanabha Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji were born in Honnavar in Saka 1750. They were given deeksha by their guru, P.P. Shreemad Poornaprajna Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji, on Magha Shukla Panchami of Saka 1761 and ordained as Shri Padmanabha Teerth. Their education was completed under the direct teachings of their erudite guru, who taught all students at the Gurukula. They were deeply engrossed in studying Shriman Madhavacharya’s bhashya on the Brahmasutras, syllogism, grammar, and logic.

    Pilgrimages and Spiritual Discipline

Following the longstanding practice of the Guruparampara, they undertook several pilgrimages to holy places. These included visits to Tirupati, Dhanushkodi, Anantakshetra (Trivandrum), Manjeshwar, Udupi, Basrur, and Gokarna. Their life as a shishya and guru was defined by spiritual discipline and adherence to the traditions established by their predecessors.

    Administrative Stewardship and Legal Recognition

The guru and shishya worked in perfect unison for many years, ensuring the math’s administration remained flawless even in the guru’s absence. P.P. Swamiji earned the complete trust of their guru, receiving full support for all endeavors aimed at the math’s welfare. During their tenure, the Portuguese Government issued a decisive order clarifying that the pontiff of the Gokarna Partagali Math was the sole owner of the Partagali matha and the Ramadeva Temple. It also established the pontiff as the final authority on disputes in Hindu temple committees within Portuguese territories. P.P. Swamiji also managed transactional records, court documents, and acquired new land holdings to increase the math’s overall revenue.

    Mahanirvana

P.P. Shreemad Padmanabha Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji attained Haripada (vrundavana) on Ashadh Shuddha Saptami of Saka 1814 at Partagali Math, where their vrundavana continues to be a site of devotion.
